Ashton Town FC
WELCOME
Ashton Town Club Chairman, Mark Hayes, is extremely pleased to announce that ex Everton and Wigan legend Joe Parkinson is to take over as caretaker manager until the end of the season.
"Even though the club has recieved an amazing 25 applications over just 5 days I just thought to make a permanant appointment with only 9 games to go was not the right move. I personally have major ambitions for the club and could not help myself by chasing my top target, and now it is reality I am over the moon.
Joe is a very well respected figure within the game and I am sure this will send shockwaves throughout non league football, only in October of last year in an interview with the BBC, Joey Barton quoted Joe as being his favourite player of all time. With me personally being a lifelong Wigan Athletic fan, I watched in admiration a player grow into a quite outstanding midfielder at Everton, the 'dogs of war' side that Joe was in hit a peak in 1995 when Everton beat Manchester United to win the FA Cup. For me, it really doesnt get any better than this to bring someone of Joe's calibre to the club."
Joe said "From meeting Mark, and hearing the clubs plans I really wanted to get involved. This is a great challenge and I cannot wait to get started."
