What is the purpose of the qualifications?

The primary target groups are young people who aim to plan, prepare and lead sessions in sports activities, make sure the working enviroment is healthy and safe and promote peoples personal and social development. typical settings will be activity holidaycentres, out door education centres, youth clubs and coaching organisations.

Who is the qualification for?

This qualification is aimed at learners aged 16-18 who are remaining in secondary education who are capable of reaching the required standards needed to pass the course. SMS Coaching believe that qualifications should be free from any barrier that restrict ant access ad progression and ensure equality of opportunity for all wishing to access the qualifications.

What are the benefits of our quaifications to the learner and future employer?

Both the level 2 & Level 3 are designed for those working in or aspiring to work in activity leadership or sports development. This qualification requires the learner to demonstrate competence against the national occupations standards (NOS) which are based on the needs of the sector of which they desire to persue a career.

The qualification has a work based learning requirment of which SMS offers a high quality WBL schedule through out our extensive schools and communities programmes. Also SMS will benefit the learners as they will receive work references from our organisations outlining the work which they have carried out whilst on the course.
